Hello, everyone, and welcome to our first episode of Classic & Curious, my name is Anne, and I'm so excited about kicking off this podcast. So a little bit about me. I worked in fashion retail for over 20 years, I have dressed some famous individuals and everyday fashion enthusiasts like myself. I've played host to philanthropic events, PR events, wine tastings, and soirees and for the last three years, I've been working on my second act, a design consultancy called Styled by A.R.K.

One thing about design that draws out a passion of mine is curating a story through elements that reflect who the client is. The other part of my creative expression is storytelling as it relates to lifestyle topics, such as food and wine, travel and fashion. Bottom line, I love to create a narrative.

    1:39

So after a few nudges from clients, friends and colleagues, I'm taking a new leap in my own story, and that is creating this podcast. I have always been drawn to timeless fashion styles, I love the expression black has played in Coco Chanel's personality to admiring today's timeless style icon, Amal Clooney, staying in the know is second nature to me. And please, if you put me in Bergdorfs, I automatically transcend to a different element of focus.

    2:10

I'm inspired by the places that I've been to from the Carlyle Hotel in New York City, to the Rosewood Hotel in London. I adore boutique hotels, I sit and gaze at every detail, imagining how it can be recreated someplace else. I'm charmed by local restaurants, they can have a simple piece of glassware that inspires me to ask who made this. And truth be told, I have an abundance of glassware in my own home. I love to match it off to every occasion, or most importantly, the drink itself.

    2:47

The other part of the restaurant experience that I adore is trying to recreate that fabulous meal in my own home. I love the small things that add a sense of timeless style to our everyday elements that have been around me for years, yet still play a relevant role. I have a small silver bowl on a stack of books that my aunt gave me as a wedding gift over 30 years ago. Every time I polish it, I smile versus think of the chore itself. So it only seemed natural for me to create a platform to share these classic-styled inspirations and experiences with you.

    3:25

While I do look forward to sharing my favorite places, fashion outlooks, entertaining, and decor elements. I'm even more delighted to fuel my curiosity and discover more. For this podcast, I sought out personalities that have influenced me and that I admire. Each of my guests will have three things in common: a passion for timeless style, a sense of curiosity, and an appreciation for ease and simplicity.

    3:53

With all that said, I'm so excited about one of my first guests. A retired boutique inn owner from Watermill, New York, Liz has hosted 1000s of guests in one of my favorite locations. Her sense of ease and style made you feel as if you were lifelong friends. Not to mention, her cooking is amazing. She will share all of her expertise in hosting a perfect stay, and I am sure we will laugh a little on some of those moments where it wasn't so perfect. So come along this journey with me, and let's discover all of the beautiful ways classic style can reveal itself. Tata for now!
